Olia has extensive synthetic biology expertise, focusing on strain engineering in diverse microalgae for over a decade. She received her Ph.D. from UC San Diego, doing joint work between the School of Biological Sciences and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Olia did her postdoctoral work at UC Berkeley, training in top algae labs at both institutions. She pioneered a microalgal strain engineering project at a startup prior to joining BioDrive.
Olia is passionate about sustainability, biomanufacturing, and synthetic biology-driven approaches to addressing various challenges faced by humanity.
